Students registering on a British Council computer

Check your level

Everyone who wants to join our courses needs to do a level test.

The first part of our testing procedure checks your grammar and vocabulary. You will do this in one of our classrooms, and it will take approximately 30-40 minutes.

After this you will have a conversation with one of our teachers for about 10 minutes. This helps the teacher to check your speaking and listening skills, as well as your pronunciation.

Finally, the teacher will compare both parts of the test and advise you on the most appropriate course for your needs and at your level.

Please note: if you have taken a course with us in the last six months, you do not need to take the test again.

After the test our customer service staff will inform you of course schedules and provide further course details.

If there is a suitable course available, you can then register and pay the course fee. If the course is fully booked, your name will be put on a waiting list.

General conditions

The course fee should be paid in full before the start of a course. You can pay by cheque (made out to British Council) or by bank deposit or bank transfer.

Our groups normally have a maximum of 18 students.

Should there not be a sufficient number of students, we reserve the right not to open a class. In such an event, we will transfer you to another class at your level or refund the course fee that has already been paid.

Only in exceptional circumstances will we accept a request for cancellation once term has started.
